How it gets described on the phone
- Fresh-food side climbing into the forties while the freezer column still reads zero

- Water pooling under the crisper drawers, or a rim of ice along the floor of the cabinet
What actually gets measured
- Cabinet and evaporator temperatures taken at the shelf and compared against what the panel is claiming
- Both refrigeration circuits treated separately — a healthy freezer next door is evidence, not reassurance
- Evaporator fan draw, defrost heater and thermistor resistance on the fresh-food side
- Condenser condition and the actual air path out of the cabinet, which is what a joinery-tight install loses first
- Door seal compression, hinge alignment and the closer, because a door that never quite shuts loads everything downstream of it
Dual refrigeration is the reason a fresh-food column can climb into the forties while the freezer beside it sits at zero, and it is also the reason that pattern is good news: it rules out the whole sealed system on the freezer side before a panel comes off. What is left is a short list — airflow, defrost, a sensor lying to the board, or a condenser that stopped rejecting heat properly some time last summer.
